Jane Priester: Handmade in NY is a one-of-one and small batch clothing line focused on mixed media and sustainability. Each collection mixes couture with ready to wear, breaking the stigma that fashion that is considered art is unwearable.

Each garment is labeled with the date it was made, connecting creator and consumer.

Jane Priester: Handmade in NY offers the conscious consumer an alternative to vintage fashion to express themselves and define the individuality of the era we are living through.

While the pieces are new, they already have a story I set in motion as the designer; when a customer buys a piece and takes it out into the world, they are adding onto that story.

Mixing materials sourced from the leftovers of large fashion houses with fabric prints I paint myself using my fine arts background, the brand aims to contribute as little as possible to textile waste.

My narrative, mini collection model aims to shift the perspective that fashion is trend-based and disposable by posing fashion as art on a conceptual level, and making the clothes durable and quality on a physical level.
